ABOUT THE BOOK... Godfrey Eneas, a former director of the Department of Agriculture, has chalked up a first with his book, "Agriculture in The Bahamas."

It has been billed as the first only comprehensive study of the nature and development of Bahamian Agriculture.

This book however is not confined to Bahamian Agriculture alone; it also provides an insight into the reasons why governments of The Bahamas took some very fundamental development decisions and the socio-political environment surrounding some of these decisions.

The book compiles information and data from a wide spectrum of sources and hopes to provide a foundation from which more detailed investigations into the development of Bahamian Agriculture can be pursued.

The underlying objective of the book is to identify the role which the Agricultural Sector has played over the years in the economy of The Bahamas and the significance of farming in the socialization of Bahamians, particularly the Family Island communities commencing with the earliest inhabitants.

The reader, both indigenous and foreign, will receive a unique glimpse into the vital sector and a perception which can only be conveyed through the native comprehensive of "Agricola Bahamiana."
